My september paintout for: The Virtual Paintout. This is in Holbaek, Zealand Island of Denmark . I call this one Horses, I thought the one close to the road was quite attractive so I did the painting in soft pastel with tinted pastel paper by Canson .

My sketch for August, The Virtual Paintout ; a little late with this one, I attempted a few rough sketches and finally came across this one in Oatlands, Tasmania . This store was in an older looking town with a flatbed truck which was harder than I thought being forshortened, the 1st try was sort of strange looking, I stopped with this one. I used color pencil after the sketch ; the paper was a 9"x12" Drawing Pad for muti use dry material , so I chose Prisma color pencil.

San Xavier Mission

A picture I took of the back of the Mission I used color pencil on black paper for this style of art.

Flamenco Dancers

Flamenco Dancers I did for my Niece as a gift some years back and might try again; as a beginner at the time it was a challenge , but than W/C is aways a challenge.

Nopal ( prickly pear ) cactus

For the class watercolor sketching by Cathy Johnson. I painted the nopal cactus using Van Gogh pocket paints; also sponge work , splatter, and variegated colors. I used  Strathmore 9x12, 140lb Watercolor paper for week 2 assignment.

Friday, February 24, 2012

My painting for February, Beach Day at Elba, I got this one in a little late at" The Virtual Paintout", I sketched 2 pages , too large so modified 2nd half of sketch , and used Derwent watercolor pencils, used wrong wax for highlights, and corrected it with white charcoal, after scraping of wax to save the painting : )~ The paper I used was Canson 90lb, 9x12 W/Color paper. I think I'll use 300lb paper and tube paints for the next painting.

New Saguaro Cactus

I sketched this cactus near Sabino creek in Sabino Canyon which flows from the run off of snow at Mt Lemmon, Tucson, AZ. It was nice to sit and watch the water cascading over the rocks and flowing over the dam; a seasonal experience for us desert dwellers. I used a small 400 series sketch pad3.5 x5 plus pen and EK Earth Color Pencils for this subject.

Old Town IrishTravern

The travern is done in pencil, and color pencil; this is from the December "The virtual Paintout" at Eureka, California . The paper used was Stratmore windpower sketch 11.75 x 14, its 100% windpower and 30% post- consumer fiber, thought when possible I'ld go green, no pun intended.
